A wonderful place in my city: Monserrate

Monserrate is a sanctuary located in a mountain called with the same name. In that place, we can find a church where there is a statue of “Saint Christ Fallen the whips and nailed into the Cross”.
People visit Mosterrate for sightseeing or to pray and ask for wishes.

History

It was founded in 1640 and Mr. Juan de Borja, president in that epoch, was the one who decide to build the church in the name of Monserrat's Morena Virgin in that place, who has a sanctuary in Barcelona – Spain too.

Finally, it was finished in 1657 by Pedro Solis, the creator of this artwork. Since that time, every day, thousands of people and pilgrims visit Monserrate for religious or tourism reasons. Also, we can see Bogota very Small because the church is in the highest part of the mountain.
